Splice Crew Laborer

This position primarily serves Binkelman Services Splice Crew.  This is an entry level position.  Incumbent will work directly with the skilled belt splicers to assist on all conveyor belt installation and splicing work. At the same time incumbent will be gaining the skills needed to have the opportunity to advance into a skilled belt splicer position. Incumbent will also work with our millwright  crew when needed to assist on larger projects.  Incumbent will always possess a safety minded attitude along with a willingness to learn new tasks.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Always adhere to all company and customers’ site safety rules
  • Adhere to all MSHA and OSHA requirements
  • Ensure all PPE is in good condition and always worn
  • Unload tools, prepare job site and set up of equipment at job site
  • Follow project instructions from Services Manager and Crew leader
  • Use various hand and power tools to complete service tasks
  • Follow all health and safety regulations when operating equipment
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely and efficient matter
  • Safely operate a variety of tools including but not limited to drills, impacts, grinders……
  • Safely operate mobile equipment such as telehandler, forklift, aerial lift……
  • Cleanup jobsite when work is complete
  • Ensure all equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly
  • Assist millwright crew when needed on larger projects

  • Must be able to work in a variety of environments such as heat, cold, snow, wind, rain………
  • Incumbent will at times be exposed to noisy, dusty, dirty, muddy environments
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed. Some holiday work  required
  • Ability to travel and possibly be away from home for up to a week at a time

Qualifications:

  • High School degree or equivalent educational experience; vocational school or trade apprenticeship a plus
  • Some mechanical or fabrication experience preferred
  • Some mobile equipment experience preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License
